DMK president M.K. Stalin demanded an immediate halt to any government order reducing the lease arrears owed by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association from 2,081 crore rupees to a mere 250 crore rupees. Stalin highlighted that the Comptroller and Auditor General had explicitly audited and exposed the colossal unpaid rental arrears for the prime government land occupied by the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai.
Stalin condemned reports indicating that the state cabinet secretly finalized a compromise deal to slash the association's outstanding liability by nearly ninety percent. Forfeiting over eighteen hundred crore rupees of public revenue constitutes a monumental betrayal of the state treasury and public trust. He demanded that if any cabinet resolution had been approved to benefit the private sports body, the administration must refrain from notifying official executive orders.
The opposition leader stated that prime public assets cannot be bartered away through opaque backroom deals between ruling ministers and influential organizations. Stalin declared that the state government has a fiduciary obligation to recover every rupee of public revenue identified by constitutional auditing authorities without extending unlawful political concessions.
