Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly criticized the AIADMK administration for unilaterally declaring public board examinations for classes five and eight even before the Union Government officially notified the National Education Policy. Stalin asserted that this hasty and unthinking move demonstrates that the state administration functions as a direct extension of the central BJP regime rather than as an independent government responsive to Tamil Nadu's students.

Stalin highlighted that imposing formal board examinations on elementary and middle school children will trigger massive school dropouts, particularly among children from marginalized socio-economic backgrounds and rural communities. Introducing high-stakes competitive examinations at an early age inflicts severe psychological stress on young pupils and runs completely counter to the fundamental spirit of the Right to Education Act. He condemned the state government for acting with undue haste to please central ideologues at the expense of children's welfare.

The opposition leader demanded that the state school education department immediately revoke the board examination circular and preserve the existing continuous evaluation system. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will resist every regressive educational reform that threatens inclusive learning and student retention in state schools.
