DMK president M.K. Stalin criticized Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami following official press remarks regarding rescue operations for two-year-old child Sujith Wilson in Tiruchirappalli district. Stalin observed that the Chief Minister exhibited personal political animosity against the opposition rather than showing genuine administrative sorrow or solemn empathy over the tragic loss of the toddler. The confrontation arose after Stalin highlighted systemic operational delays and questioned why specialized armed forces assistance was not summoned promptly.
Stalin asserted that when state administrative mechanisms encounter complex subterranean obstacles during life-saving operations, engaging specialized military engineers without administrative hesitation remains essential. He stated that raising legitimate questions about rescue delays reflected widespread public anguish rather than partisan hostility. However, the Chief Minister responded with personal attacks against the opposition leader instead of transparently explaining administrative bottlenecks.
The opposition leader stressed that public officials must demonstrate accountability and emotional maturity during grave civil tragedies. He urged the state administration to abandon vindictive posturing and conduct an honest internal evaluation of rescue protocols. Ensuring that specialized machinery and disaster response teams deploy rapidly during emergencies represents the true responsibility of executive governance.
