DMK president M.K. Stalin issued an urgent appeal demanding comprehensive state action to identify and seal all abandoned borewells across Tamil Nadu following the fatal Nadukattupatti tragedy. Stalin stressed that society must resolve that no child ever suffers such a horrific fate inside an uncapped well again. While calling upon the government to demonstrate executive initiative, he emphasized that citizens and political cadres cannot rely passively on state bureaucracy alone to eliminate these hazardous subterranean pits.
Stalin specifically instructed DMK cadres and local representatives across all districts to survey farmland and rural localities for uncovered or disused borewells. He directed party workers to collect precise geographic data and deliver actionable reports to municipal and revenue authorities immediately. In addition, Stalin urged cadres to actively coordinate with district officials to ensure that discovered wells are permanently closed with concrete seals or secure caps.
The DMK president emphasized that public safety requires collective community vigilance alongside strict administrative enforcement. He stated that preventing avoidable fatal accidents through proactive civic involvement constitutes the most meaningful tribute the state can offer to grieving families across Tamil Nadu.
