DMK president M.K. Stalin visited the burial site of two-year-old child Sujith Wilson at Nadukattupatti in Tiruchirappalli district, paying solemn floral tributes and offering heartfelt personal condolences to the bereaved parents. Emerging from the emotional meeting with the grieving family, Stalin expressed profound sorrow over the child's tragic demise inside the abandoned agricultural borewell. He stated that reflecting upon the administrative complacency that permitted such lethal negligence causes immense grief to everyone across the state of Tamil Nadu.
Stalin pointedly criticized the ruling AIADMK administration for its prolonged failure to enforce binding Supreme Court safety directives concerning open borewells. The apex court had established comprehensive statutory guidelines requiring mandatory registration, barricading, and secure sealing of disused borewells across all states. Stalin asserted that administrative lethargy and lack of ground-level enforcement by government departments turned agricultural fields into deadly death traps for rural children.
The DMK leader demanded that the state government immediately conduct comprehensive audits of all rural borewells and hold negligent landowners strictly accountable. He underscored that constitutional administrations cannot evade responsibility when basic judicial safety mandates remain unenforced on the ground across Tamil Nadu districts.
