DMK president M.K. Stalin delivered a poignant message paying homage to child Sujith Wilson, whose tragic death inside an abandoned borewell in Tiruchirappalli shaken the nation. Stalin observed that over the preceding decades, numerous precious young lives had been extinguished inside uncovered agricultural borewells across Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that offering floral tributes or expressing ceremonial condolences remains hollow unless the state establishes an absolute guarantee that no other child will ever perish in this manner.

Stalin called upon society, local bodies, and government agencies to unite in enforcing permanent systemic safeguards against open borewells. He stressed that ensuring every single disused pit is identified, registered, and hermetically sealed constitutes the only genuine tribute the state can pay to Sujith's memory. The opposition leader warned that repeated administrative inaction following high-profile tragedies reflects a failure of public governance that can no longer be tolerated.
