DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed serious concern over the ongoing indefinite strike by government doctors across Tamil Nadu, urging the state government to break its silence immediately. Stalin criticized Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar for refusing to invite protesting medical professionals for constructive dialogue. He noted that executive apathy and ministerial silence had allowed an administrative dispute to escalate into a severe healthcare crisis affecting hundreds of thousands of impoverished patients.
Stalin emphasized that government hospitals and primary health centres serve as the sole medical lifeline for working-class families who cannot afford exorbitant private medical care. The continued disruption of outpatient services and planned procedures threatens human lives and inflicts immense hardship on rural communities. Stalin stressed that while medical officers have legitimate service grievances regarding staffing ratios and salary parity, administrative stubbornness cannot be permitted to paralyze public hospitals.
The opposition leader demanded that the Chief Minister personally intervene and convene direct negotiations with doctor associations without preconditions. Resolving legitimate professional demands through transparent administrative talks remains essential to restore normal healthcare delivery throughout Tamil Nadu.
