DMK president M.K. Stalin visited the Anna Centenary Library in Chennai and formally registered himself as a library member following the state government's decision to open public membership enrollment. The world-class library, conceptualized and inaugurated by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to mark the centenary celebrations of DMK founder C.N. Annadurai, represents one of Asia's largest public repositories of knowledge. Stalin stated that enrolling as a reader at the institution was an emotional and joyous moment for him.
Stalin recalled the relentless legal and democratic struggles waged by scholars, civil society, and the DMK against AIADMK regime attempts to shut down or relocate the premier facility. He commended the judiciary and intellectual community whose principled defense preserved the monument of learning for future generations. By obtaining his membership card on the opening day, Stalin sought to inspire students, researchers, and young citizens to patronize the institution enthusiastically.
The DMK leader emphasized that cultivating widespread reading habits and democratizing access to literature embody the fundamental principles of the Dravidian self-respect movement. He pledged continuous support toward enhancing public libraries across the state.
