DMK president M.K. Stalin led an enthusiastic election campaign meeting in Surapattu village in the Vikravandi Assembly constituency, soliciting votes for party nominee N. Pugazhenthi. Addressing local agricultural workers, women, and youth, Stalin asserted that the by-election offered a clear chance to voice collective discontent against the ruling AIADMK administration. He stated that rural communities across Villupuram district were suffering from severe administrative neglect and widespread governance failures.
Stalin drew attention to specific local grievances in Surapattu, including dilapidated village streets, inadequate drainage networks, and irregular power supply to agrarian pumpsets. He noted that repeated petitions submitted by local residents to district authorities had been ignored. Stalin emphasized that the DMK has historically stood by farmers and working families, enacting pioneering reforms including free farm electricity and extensive cooperative loan waivers to alleviate agrarian distress throughout rural Tamil Nadu.
The DMK leader appealed to the residents of Surapattu to vote decisively for the Rising Sun symbol on polling day. He reiterated that a resounding victory for Pugazhenthi would ensure accessible public representation and prompt resolution of pressing civic problems throughout the region.
