DMK president M.K. Stalin conducted an extensive election campaign meeting in Kalpattu village within the Vikravandi Assembly constituency, soliciting votes for party nominee N. Pugazhenthi. Engaging warmly with local farmers, weavers, and self-help group members, Stalin stated that the upcoming by-election served as a decisive platform to register public anger against administrative stagnation. He remarked that widespread rural grievances demonstrated the complete failure of the ruling AIADMK government to maintain essential public works.
Stalin addressed specific problems in Kalpattu, noting that local residents faced erratic bus connectivity, poorly maintained village roads, and frequent interruptions in agricultural power supply. He criticized state ministers for neglecting village civic amenities while indulging in corrupt contracts. Stalin reminded the gathering that DMK administrations led by M. Karunanidhi had consistently prioritized agrarian welfare, providing free electricity to farmers, establishing agricultural marketing committees, and expanding social security pensions for underprivileged households across Tamil Nadu.
The opposition leader called upon the people of Kalpattu to vote overwhelmingly for Pugazhenthi on the Rising Sun symbol. He assured that the candidate would serve as a dependable representative and ensure rapid resolution of pending civic works.
