Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin urged the central and Tamil Nadu state governments to immediately repatriate rare archaeological artifacts unearthed during excavations at Keeladi from Bengaluru and other locations. Emphasizing the immense historical significance of the discoveries on the Vaigai river plains, Stalin insisted that the authorities must expedite the construction of a world-class on-site museum in Keeladi to display these ancient treasures for the public and global scholars. He stated that the Keeladi findings provide undeniable scientific proof of an advanced, literate urban civilization flourishing in Tamil Nadu over two millennia ago.

Stalin expressed deep concern over past attempts by central authorities to stall archaeological investigations and transfer dedicated researchers from the site. He stressed that delaying the return of invaluable relics undermines the cultural heritage of the Tamil people. Stalin called on the state administration to demonstrate resolute leadership, secure every excavated item, and allocate necessary funds for permanent museum infrastructure.

The DMK leader affirmed that the party remains steadfastly committed to protecting Tamil linguistic and cultural heritage, pledging continuous advocacy to uncover the full civilizational antiquity of ancient Tamil society.
