DMK president M.K. Stalin announced a solemn policy commitment that a commemorative memorial hall would be erected in honor of the martyrs of the historic social justice reservation agitations and distinguished Vanniyar community leader A. Govindasamy once the DMK returns to power in Tamil Nadu. Addressing the public, Stalin emphasized that former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had always recognized the legitimate rights of the Vanniyar community, creating the separate Most Backward Classes quota in 1989 to guarantee educational and employment opportunities for marginalized rural populations.
Stalin recalled that the Dravidian movement was built upon unwavering struggles for affirmative action and social equality. He pointed out that while conservative political opponents sought to divide communities along sectarian lines, the DMK consistently translated grassroots aspirations into constitutional policies. Stalin emphasized that late leader A. Govindasamy played a pivotal role in strengthening the social justice movement alongside party founder C.N. Annadurai and Karunanidhi.
The opposition leader affirmed that honoring community icons and agitation martyrs reflects the DMK's enduring dedication to backward communities. He urged the electorate to place their trust in the Secular Progressive Alliance.
