DMK president M.K. Stalin severely criticized the AIADMK leadership for displaying complete insensitivity following the tragic death of twenty-three-year-old software engineer Subashree in Chennai. Subashree lost her life after an illegally erected political banner collapsed on her two-wheeler, throwing her under an oncoming water tanker. Stalin pointed out that the ruling party failed to extend even a formal message of condolence to the devastated family, exposing an utter lack of empathy and basic accountability.
Instead of accepting responsibility for hazardous unauthorized hoardings, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami approached the Madras High Court seeking special permission to erect cutouts for impending political events. Stalin condemned this legal move, stating that the state leadership rushed to protect partisan publicity before the damp earth on Subashree's grave had even dried. He argued that public roads must remain safe thoroughfares rather than hazardous platforms for political self-promotion.
Stalin emphasized that the DMK strictly enforced a ban prohibiting party cadres from erecting hoardings or hoardings that inconvenience commuters across Tamil Nadu. He demanded that administrative and police authorities hold ruling party organizers criminally liable rather than shielding influential figures.
