Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the controversial revision of the 2019 academic curriculum at Anna University's College of Engineering Guindy campus, where a philosophy course was made compulsory under the guise of Indian and Western philosophical studies. Stalin revealed that the syllabus surreptitiously introduced Sanskrit texts and sectarian teachings while omitting classical Tamil philosophical traditions, rationalist thought, and universal ethical treatises like the Thirukkural. He termed this curriculum design a blatant effort to impose cultural hegemony on technical students.

Stalin questioned why engineering graduates pursuing advanced scientific and technological disciplines should be compelled to study sectarian theological doctrines. He argued that if academic institutions genuinely intended to impart philosophical breadth and ethical training, they ought to feature progressive Dravidian egalitarianism, Periyar's self-respect principles, and Anna's democratic ideals alongside global humanistic philosophies. Imposing Sanskritized texts through executive fiat violates Tamil Nadu's longstanding commitment to secular education.

He demanded that the university syndicate and administrative officials promptly withdraw the compulsory philosophy paper from engineering programmes. Stalin warned that students, progressive youth organizations, and democratic forces across Tamil Nadu will launch vigorous protests if administrative authorities persist with backdoor ideological indoctrination.

This is an initiative of unofficial DMK and Dravidian Ideology supporter, a fan of Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar — not affiliated with any official DMK party or persons.
