DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the AIADMK government after state legal counsel submitted before the Madras High Court that the administration would not file an appeal against the quashing of a first information report regarding eighty-nine crore rupees in voter payoffs during the R.K. Nagar by-election. Stalin characterized the government's stance as an outrageous betrayal of judicial integrity and public trust, designed explicitly to rescue Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar from criminal prosecution.
Stalin recalled that income tax authorities seized meticulous payment schedules detailing systematic bribery orchestrated across voting wards, implicating top cabinet ministers and political functionaries. Despite overwhelming evidentiary material submitted to statutory authorities, the state police deliberately compromised the inquiry, allowing the complaint to be quashed on technicalities. Stalin asserted that refusing to appeal against this dismissal confirms that the state machinery is actively collaborating to shield corrupt ministers from legal scrutiny.
He demanded that the police hierarchy uphold statutory duty rather than functioning as personal defenders of ruling politicians. Stalin declared that the DMK will pursue legal recourse in higher judicial forums to ensure comprehensive investigation and stringent punishment for politicians who corrupt democratic elections.
