DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound anguish over the tragic deaths of two infants, Rohit and Mahalakshmi, who succumbed to dengue fever due to the utter failure of state authorities to initiate timely preventative measures. Stalin extended heartfelt condolences to the grief-stricken families, noting that the loss of innocent children underscores a criminal breakdown in public health administration. He held the AIADMK government directly accountable for allowing vector-borne epidemics to spread unchecked across urban and rural settlements.
Stalin urged Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to declare a public health emergency and mobilize municipal teams on a war footing to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds. He pointed out that government hospitals face acute shortages of platelets, essential medicines, clean water, and dedicated fever isolation wards, leaving poor families helpless during medical emergencies. Stalin emphasized that administrative complacency and underfunded health facilities have turned treatable fevers into fatal occurrences for vulnerable children.
He called upon local bodies to immediately initiate comprehensive fogging, drain desilting, and intensive sanitation campaigns across all districts. Stalin assured the public that DMK grassroots volunteers will actively assist affected communities with preventative healthcare outreach.
