DMK president M.K. Stalin announced the temporary postponement of the statewide condemnation agitation initially scheduled for September 20 against Hindi imposition across Tamil Nadu. Stalin explained that the decision followed a formal meeting with the Governor of Tamil Nadu, who provided firm assurances regarding linguistic safeguards, alongside public clarifications issued by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. While acknowledging these administrative statements, Stalin reiterated that the DMK's fundamental opposition to linguistic hegemony remains uncompromising and alert.
Stalin made it unequivocally clear that the party's deferral represents a tactical pause, not a retreat from its historical mission of protecting Tamil identity and linguistic rights. He warned that if the Union Government makes any further attempt, directly or covertly, to enforce Hindi dominance over non-Hindi speaking states, the DMK will instantly mobilize mass protests. Stalin emphasized that India's unity relies upon genuine linguistic pluralism where every constitutionally recognized language receives equal dignity and official respect.
He commended DMK cadres, alliance parties, and Tamil language activists for demonstrating united resolve during recent mobilization drives. Stalin reaffirmed that the Dravidian movement will perpetually stand guard against cultural imposition, preserving linguistic federalism across the nation.
