DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah immediately withdraw his contentious statement asserting that Hindi alone can unify the Indian nation. Stalin cautioned central leaders that the country is known as India, not Hindi-ya, reminding the Union Government that the republic was founded on profound linguistic, cultural, and regional diversity. He called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break his silence and explicitly clarify his administrative stance regarding the Home Minister's polarising linguistic pronouncements.
Stalin pointed out that promoting Hindi as a common national identity insults millions of non-Hindi speaking citizens whose distinct ancient mother tongues have enriched the subcontinent for millennia. He stated that attempting to impose linguistic uniformity under the pretext of national integration is a dangerous fallacy that threatens communal cohesion. Stalin warned that such majoritarian rhetoric alienates diverse states and undermines the constitutional guarantees that protect linguistic minorities.
He declared that the DMK will never permit the subjugation of Tamil language rights or the reduction of non-Hindi speakers to secondary citizens. Stalin reaffirmed that true national unity thrives on mutual respect among all recognized languages, demanding constitutional equality for all.
