DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed deep grief and indignation over the heartbreaking death of twenty-three-year-old software engineer Subashree, who lost her life when an unauthorized political banner fell on her vehicle in Chennai. Conveying heartfelt condolences to her devastated family, Stalin asserted that Subashree's untimely demise was a direct consequence of institutional negligence, administrative apathy, and police incompetence. He condemned the ruling AIADMK establishment for allowing hazardous promotional cutouts to mushroom with total impunity across arterial roads.
Stalin asked how many more innocent citizens must lose their lives to appease the insatiable vanity and authoritarian arrogance of ruling party politicians. Despite clear judicial directives from the Madras High Court prohibiting unauthorized hoardings, municipal officials and law enforcement authorities deliberately turned a blind eye to massive illegal structures erected for ruling party functions. Stalin declared that this tragic incident represents state-sponsored negligence where administrative complicity cost a promising young woman her life.
He demanded exemplary criminal action against the ruling party functionaries who installed the banners and the negligent officials who permitted them. Stalin pledged that the DMK will persistently fight in legal and public forums to eliminate banner culture.
