DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly reiterated that the Union Government must ensure equal treatment for all citizens regardless of their linguistic or geographical backgrounds. In a statement addressed to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Stalin emphasized that excluding regional languages from central public service examinations unfairly disadvantages non-Hindi speaking candidates.
Stalin asserted that the DMK firmly opposes any administrative policy that imposes linguistic hierarchy in national recruitment. He noted that competitive departmental examinations conducted solely in English and Hindi deny qualified personnel from southern and regional states equal advancement opportunities. Such practices contradict the federal character of the Indian republic and violate the constitutional guarantee of equality before the law.
The DMK leader called upon central authorities to dismantle linguistic barriers across all departments and public sector enterprises. Stalin reminded the Union Government that national institutions belong equally to citizens of every state, regardless of their native tongue. He affirmed that the DMK will persistently defend linguistic parity, urging central ministries to conduct competitive examinations in all recognized languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
