DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the ruling AIADMK administration for systematically denying permission to public gatherings organized by Dravidian, communist, social justice, and Tamil cultural groups. He accused the state government of acting as a subservient regime that facilitates events hosted by communal and sectarian forces while stifling progressive democratic voices under flimsy pretexts.
Stalin criticized the state police machinery for suppressing freedom of expression and academic liberty across Tamil Nadu. He stated that using administrative authority to ban rationalist lectures, cultural conferences, and student symposiums represents a dangerous overreach that threatens the constitutional rights of citizens. The DMK leader emphasized that Tamil Nadu has historically flourished as an open space for intellectual debate, ideological pluralism, and vibrant public discourse across all districts.
Calling upon democratic forces to resist authoritarian curbs on civil liberties, Stalin warned that administrative bias in granting public meeting permissions exposes the regime's political insecurity. He asserted that the DMK will persistently defend the constitutional right to peaceful assembly and free speech, pledging that the Dravidian movement will not allow hard-won democratic freedoms to be compromised by state apathy.
