DMK president M.K. Stalin concluded a second consecutive day of intensive field visits across devastated regions of the Nilgiris district, witnessing firsthand the catastrophic damage wrought by unprecedented landslides and heavy monsoon inundation. Announcing immediate concrete financial support, Stalin committed ten crore rupees from the Local Area Development funds of DMK Members of Parliament and Members of the Legislative Assembly to execute emergency relief and restoration works in the worst-affected hill communities.
Interacting directly with displaced tea estate laborers, small farmers, and indigenous tribal families in relief centers, Stalin observed that crucial infrastructure, including access roads, mountain bridges, drinking water pipelines, and power networks, had been pulverized. He sharply criticized the AIADMK government for administrative sluggishness, demanding that the state cabinet officially notify the Nilgiris as a disaster-affected district and deploy emergency rehabilitation personnel on a war footing to clear debris and restore transport connectivity.
Stalin insisted that government compensation must comprehensively cover human casualties, livestock losses, and destroyed dwelling units. He reaffirmed that the DMK would monitor restoration progress closely, ensuring that relief resources reach the most vulnerable hill residents without administrative bottlenecks.
