#NEET, #NEXT, #neweducationpolicy
DMK president M.K. Stalin voiced strong condemnation against the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for sharply hiking examination fees, with a disproportionately steep increase imposed on Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students. Stalin described the fee escalation as an unconscionable assault on educational equity, designed to erect economic barriers that prevent first-generation learners and marginalized youth from completing their school education and qualifying for higher studies.
Stalin noted that the fee hike aligns with a broader pattern of regressive educational policies pursued by the Union BJP government, citing the centralized imposition of NEET, NEXT, and the Draft New Education Policy as concerted attempts to dilute affirmative action and social justice. Under previous fee concessions, SC and ST students in government-funded central schools paid nominal amounts, with balance expenditures covered by public subsidies. Withdrawing these crucial welfare safeguards forces economically disadvantaged families into crippling debt simply to allow their children to take mandatory secondary examinations.
Warning that the public will not tolerate the systematic dismantlement of educational entitlements, Stalin demanded that the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development immediately revoke the fee hike. He reiterated that the DMK will persistently defend accessible, subsidized public education for all disadvantaged communities.
