DMK president M.K. Stalin sharply criticized the AIADMK administration for its characteristic lethargy and failure to implement essential monsoon preparedness measures, which left thousands of residents in the Nilgiris district vulnerable to catastrophic landslides and flood inundation. Stalin stated that despite clear seasonal meteorological advisories regarding intense southwest monsoon rains, the state government failed to execute preventative desilting, culvert clearing, slope stabilization, or hazard mitigation protocols across vulnerable hill settlements.
Stalin asserted that while the incompetent state government remained a passive spectator amidst mounting humanitarian distress, the DMK would not stand idly by. He issued urgent directives to party functionaries, district secretaries, and youth wing cadres across western Tamil Nadu to mobilize comprehensive disaster relief operations immediately. Party workers were instructed to enter landslide-affected remote valleys, coordinate search and rescue support, and distribute food packets, clean water, warm clothing, and emergency medicines to stranded families.
Emphasizing the Dravidian movement's foundational principle of community service during public distress, Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK will consistently stand as a pillar of solace for affected citizens. He urged the state administration to overcome its administrative paralysis and accelerate rehabilitation.
