Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin demanded a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the acute conflict of interest and escalating administrative turmoil within the state-owned Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation (TACTV). Stalin questioned the rational basis behind appointing Minister Udumalai K. Radhakrishnan, who personally operates over two lakh private cable television connections, as the chairman of the state-run public cable enterprise, pointing out an inherent commercial conflict of interest.

Scrutinizing the public dispute that erupted between cabinet colleagues, Stalin questioned the obscure financial power struggles surrounding multi-crore procurement contracts for digital set-top boxes. He asked what precise connection existed between the grave corruption allegations raised by former Information Technology Minister M. Manikandan and his abrupt, unceremonious sacking from the council of ministers by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami. Stalin noted that suppressing ministerial disputes through summary dismissals rather than ordering an independent forensic audit points to deep-seated corruption within the highest echelons of the AIADMK dispensation.

Stalin stressed that public funds allocated for state enterprises cannot be plundered through covert procurement manipulations. He demanded that the state government institute a time-bound judicial inquiry to expose all kickbacks and ensure total administrative transparency.
