DMK president M.K. Stalin conducted an extensive campaign in Pernambut, seeking votes for DMK candidate Kathir Anand in the Vellore parliamentary constituency. Addressing a diverse gathering of leather sector workers, small traders, and residents, Stalin focused on the economic crisis impacting the town's famed tanning and footwear manufacturing industries.
Stalin criticized the central government's flawed economic policies, including poorly structured taxation and burdensome compliance measures, which had crippled traditional manufacturing hubs like Pernambut. He noted that hundreds of small leather processing units had shuttered, leaving skilled artisans without stable livelihoods while the state government offered no relief. Stalin promised that Kathir Anand would champion the revival of Pernambut's industrial ecosystem in Parliament, demanding specialized industrial subsidies, export assistance, and effluent treatment infrastructure upgrades. He affirmed that workers deserve institutional security.
The DMK leader emphasized that protecting traditional employment centers is essential for regional economic stability. He appealed to the people of Pernambut to vote for the Rising Sun symbol to secure energetic parliamentary representation. Stalin assured the community that the DMK will persistently champion the economic dignity of working-class families across Tamil Nadu.
