On behalf of the DMK, I strongly oppose the draft National Education Policy 2019
#NEP2019 is anti-poor, anti-federal, against the spirit of Constitutional guarantees, biased and pro-Hindi hegemony.

DMK president M.K. Stalin officially registered the party's emphatic opposition to the draft National Education Policy 2019, addressing his concerns directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Stalin declared that the proposed education blueprint violates core constitutional guarantees, operates against the interests of economically disadvantaged students, and undermines the federal architecture of the Indian republic.
He asserted that the draft policy reflects an overt bias toward linguistic centralism and Hindi hegemony, threatening India's rich cultural and linguistic diversity. Stalin warned that enforcing rigid national curricula and centralized testing regimes disproportionately harms rural students, first-generation learners, and socially disadvantaged communities who depend on supportive state-level welfare measures. He stressed that state governments possess unique insights into local socio-economic requirements and must retain authoritative control over school and university administration without coercive central overreach.
Stalin demanded that the central government withdraw the controversial provisions and engage in genuine consultation with state administrations, educational experts, and public stakeholders. He affirmed that the DMK remains committed to preserving equitable access to education and state autonomy, pledging to mobilize nationwide democratic solidarity against policies promoting educational elitism.
