DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the central government after State Bank of India examination results revealed glaring disparities in qualifying marks under the newly introduced quota for economically weaker sections. Stalin highlighted official data showing that candidates from Other Backward Classes and Scheduled Castes required a cut-off score of 61.25, while Scheduled Tribe candidates required 53.75, whereas economically weaker general category candidates qualified with merely 28.5 marks.
Stalin emphasized that these exam results clearly demonstrate how the Bharatiya Janata Party administration has subverted authentic social justice and damaged the constitutional spirit of affirmative action. He argued that allowing candidates from privileged forward communities to secure government banking positions with less than half the qualifying threshold demanded of marginalized groups makes a mockery of educational merit and social equity. Stalin stressed that genuine reservation was instituted to remedy centuries of systemic discrimination and lack of institutional representation.
Demanding the immediate repeal of the ten percent quota, Stalin urged progressive democratic parties across India to unite against policies undermining constitutional reservation. He pledged that the DMK will persistently challenge discriminatory eligibility rules to protect the hard-won rights of backward and oppressed communities.
