DMK president M.K. Stalin shared before-and-after photographs showcasing the successful restoration of the local pond at Haridas Nagar in his Kolathur assembly constituency. The comprehensive rejuvenation project was completed through a dedicated allocation of 82 lakh rupees, converting a previously neglected and silted waterbody into a clean, bund-strengthened reservoir designed for extensive rainwater harvesting and local groundwater replenishment.
Stalin underlined that reviving waterbodies is essential to combating severe water scarcity and securing drinking water sustainability for neighborhood communities. He emphasized that every single drop of rain must be treated as a precious drop of life, calling upon civic groups, neighborhood associations, and youth volunteers to actively participate in conservation efforts. Stalin noted that while state-level water management has faltered due to administrative apathy, systematic community-focused desilting and waterbody rejuvenation at the constituency level provide an effective model for urban ecological renewal.
He reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to protecting natural resources and expanding green infrastructure across Kolathur and throughout Tamil Nadu. Stalin pledged that water conservation and environmental preservation will remain central to the DMK's governance priorities to sustainably quench the state's thirst.
