DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a passionate call to defend state autonomy and constitutional federalism against aggressive centralizing initiatives pushed by the Union government. Invoking the lifelong struggles of Dravidian stalwarts C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi, Stalin warned that policies promoting 'one nation, one exam, one education system, and one language' are systematically stripping away states' constitutional prerogatives and subverting India's pluralistic character.
Stalin emphasized that the states of the Indian union must rise in united resistance whenever their federal rights, linguistic identity, and educational sovereignty are endangered. He sharply censured the ruling AIADMK administration for maintaining passive silence in the face of these assaults, accusing state leaders of acting as compliant observers rather than protecting Tamil Nadu's vital interests. Stalin argued that yielding control over education and language severely disadvantages non-Hindi-speaking states and undermines democratic decentralization.
He reaffirmed that the DMK will persistently lead the battle for state rights, demanding greater fiscal autonomy, educational decision-making powers, and linguistic parity across central institutions. Stalin declared that preserving state autonomy is indispensable for safeguarding regional dignity and ensuring equitable democratic governance.
