DMK president M.K. Stalin announced the constitution of a high-level expert committee by the party to comprehensively examine the draft National Education Policy released by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development. Stalin explained that the committee, comprising eminent educators, legal scholars, and public intellectuals, will systematically evaluate the draft policy's implications for social justice, educational equity, and state autonomy in higher and school education.
Stalin emphasized that the DMK will submit a formal memorandum containing rigorous critiques and alternative recommendations to the central ministry based on the expert panel's findings. He raised serious concerns that several proposals within the draft policy seek to centralize educational administration, impose standardized three-language formulas, and restrict access for first-generation learners and rural students. Stalin stressed that educational policy must respect regional linguistic realities, promote equitable opportunities, and uphold the historical achievements of Tamil Nadu's social justice model.
He reaffirmed that the DMK will always stand as an unyielding bulwark defending Tamil language rights and educational federalism against top-down imposition. Stalin emphasized that safeguarding the educational futures of underprivileged students remains an enduring political mission for the party.
