Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound fury over official revelations that the central government had informed the AIADMK administration as early as September 2017 that the President had rejected the state's NEET exemption bills. Stalin condemned the state government for deceitfully withholding this critical communication from the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and the public for twenty-one months.

Stalin emphasized that this prolonged concealment constitutes a brazen betrayal of medical aspirants across Tamil Nadu. By suppressing the central rejection letter, the AIADMK leadership prevented the state legislature from promptly readopting the exemption bills and sending them back to New Delhi under constitutional provisions. Stalin held the Chief Minister and the state cabinet directly responsible for forfeiting precious legal recourse and subjecting thousands of students to intense distress. He pointed out that while ministers falsely assured the public that the bills were under active consideration, they were actively concealing the truth to appease the central government.

Demanding full executive accountability for this deception, Stalin asserted that the people will never forgive the regime's treachery. He reiterated the DMK's steadfast commitment to exhausting all constitutional remedies to liberate Tamil Nadu students from the burdens of NEET.
