DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly criticized both the Union Bharatiya Janata Party government and the ruling AIADMK administration following disclosures before the Madras High Court that the central government had rejected Tamil Nadu's legislative resolutions seeking exemption from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Stalin condemned the state government for its duplicitous silence, pointing out that state ministers had misled the public while concealing New Delhi's adverse stand.
Stalin emphasized that the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly represents the sovereign will of seven crore citizens who have consistently opposed NEET as an elitist barrier that deprives rural, backward, and government school students of medical education. He asserted that the central government's unilateral rejection of the state's unanimous legislative decision strikes at the very root of constitutional federalism and state autonomy over education.
Demanding immediate corrective action, Stalin urged the state government to shed its submissive approach, convene the Legislative Assembly, and adopt a stern resolution condemning the central government's anti-student policy. He affirmed that the DMK will spearhead sustained legal and public agitations until total exemption from NEET is secured for aspiring medical students across Tamil Nadu.
