DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a severe condemnation of Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi for her derogatory social media remarks characterizing the people of Tamil Nadu as selfish and cowardly amidst the ongoing drinking water crisis. Stalin described Bedi's offensive statement as a brazen display of administrative arrogance and authoritarian superiority that reveals an abysmal ignorance of Tamil civilization and public generosity.
Stalin emphasized that the people of Tamil Nadu have an illustrious heritage of social solidarity, community water management, and mutual assistance during periods of natural distress. He pointed out that while citizens were enduring extreme hardship due to the administrative failure and negligence of the ruling government, a constitutional functionary chosen by the central government had chosen to heap insults upon grieving communities rather than offering constructive administrative cooperation. Stalin stressed that constitutional dignitaries must conduct themselves with dignity and respect toward the public.
Demanding an immediate retraction and an unconditional public apology from Kiran Bedi, Stalin asserted that the self-respecting people of Tamil Nadu will never tolerate defamatory characterizations from unaccountable officials. He reiterated DMK's commitment to defending Tamil dignity.
