DMK president M.K. Stalin led a massive public demonstration in Chepauk, Chennai, protesting against the severe drinking water scarcity that has paralyzed daily life across Tamil Nadu. Holding empty plastic pots alongside thousands of women, youth, and party cadres, Stalin raised the slogan inquiring where public water had vanished, demanding that the deaf ears of the ruling regime inside the secretariat wake up to popular anguish.
Stalin accused the AIADMK administration of criminal negligence for failing to anticipate water deficits despite deficient monsoon rains over consecutive seasons. He highlighted that vital drinking water infrastructure projects initiated during previous DMK governance, including comprehensive underground sewerage lines, secondary desalination plants, and water transmission pipelines, had been deliberately stalled due to administrative corruption and apathy. Stalin pointed out that while ordinary citizens were compelled to purchase expensive water from private tankers, government representatives were busy issuing excuses.
He demanded that the administration immediately execute pending desilting schemes and ensure uninterrupted distribution of potable water across every locality. Stalin declared that the DMK will intensify statewide protests until every neighborhood receives adequate drinking water.
