DMK president M.K. Stalin called upon Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to demonstrate executive accountability by introducing an official special resolution on the opening day of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly session to address the catastrophic drinking water crisis. Stalin emphasized that the alarming depletion of major drinking water reservoirs across Chennai and the parched conditions prevailing across delta and southern districts require urgent, structured legislative deliberation rather than partisan evasion.
Stalin urged the state government to utilize the assembly floor to present a comprehensive white paper detailing the exact water storage levels, operational status of desalination facilities, and budgetary requirements for emergency water supply. He insisted that the government must move beyond routine administrative platitudes and seek legislative consensus to implement tangible, time-bound relief operations for distressed citizens. Stalin noted that democratic assemblies exist primarily to address urgent public suffering and devise immediate systemic solutions.
He affirmed that the DMK legislature party will constructively participate in any genuine debate aimed at alleviating the water distress of the people. Stalin cautioned that if the ruling regime attempts to bypass this critical issue, the DMK will mount relentless protests.
