DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a stern condemnation of the Union government's step-motherly treatment toward Tamil Nadu, revealing that New Delhi had withheld a staggering 17,351 crore rupees in statutory dues, financial grants, and scheme reimbursements. Stalin stressed that this deliberate withholding of funds severely strains the state's public exchequer, crippling welfare delivery and capital expenditure across rural and urban civic departments.
He detailed that the central government had failed to disburse mandatory Goods and Services Tax compensation, local body governance grants, reimbursements for completed centrally sponsored programs, and critical post-matric scholarship funds designated for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students. Stalin noted that withholding educational scholarships directly deprives marginalized youth of higher education opportunities while denying civic bodies necessary resources to tackle drinking water shortages. He criticized the AIADMK administration for failing to assertively demand the state's financial dues, choosing political subservience over public financial integrity.
Stalin affirmed that fiscal federalism is not an act of central charity but a constitutional obligation. He pledged that DMK parliamentarians will raise this systemic injustice inside Parliament, demanding the immediate release of Tamil Nadu's rightful financial allocations.
