DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound heartbreak and sorrow over the tragic deaths of young student aspirants Rithusree and Vaishiya, who ended their lives following disappointing outcomes in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Describing these recurring student suicides as an unbearable humanitarian tragedy that pierces the collective conscience of Tamil Nadu, Stalin conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved parents and loved ones who lost their bright children to an unjust testing system.
Stalin asserted that in a federal democracy, respecting the unanimous legislative will of a state assembly seeking exemption from NEET is not a matter of central discretion, but a binding constitutional duty. He urged the Prime Minister to wake up to the immense human toll inflicted by NEET on young aspirants and immediately grant presidential assent to Tamil Nadu's exemption legislation. Stalin observed that standardized national entrance tests fail to recognize diverse educational realities and unfairly extinguish the career dreams of sincere students from modest economic backgrounds.
He pleaded with young students across Tamil Nadu never to lose hope or take extreme steps, assuring them that the DMK will persistently fight to abolish NEET.
