Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin welcomed the Union government's swift decision to withdraw the controversial clause mandating compulsory Hindi instruction in non-Hindi speaking states from the draft National Education Policy. Stalin highlighted that this significant retreat by central authorities occurred on the ninety-sixth birth anniversary of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, celebrated as Classical Tamil Day, demonstrating that the towering spirit and linguistic convictions of Kalaignar continue to safeguard Tamil interests.

Stalin pointed out that the central government was forced to amend the draft policy within forty-eight hours following fierce opposition, massive public outrage, and unequivocal warnings issued by the DMK and democratic forces across Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that the people of Tamil Nadu have historically resisted linguistic hegemony through immense sacrifices, establishing the state's pioneering two-language formula consisting of Tamil and English. Stalin warned New Delhi that any covert maneuvers to enforce Hindi dominance or dilute regional languages will always be met with unyielding popular resistance.

He declared that safeguarding the linguistic identity and constitutional equality of Tamil is an eternal mission of the Dravidian movement. Stalin reaffirmed DMK's resolve to protect mother Tamil against all impositions.

This is an initiative of unofficial DMK and Dravidian Ideology supporter, a fan of Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar — not affiliated with any official DMK party or persons.
