DMK president M.K. Stalin demanded immediate war-footing action from the Tamil Nadu government to tackle the acute drinking water crisis threatening towns and villages across the state. Stalin sharply questioned the whereabouts of funds and policy announcements promised by the AIADMK administration during legislative budget sessions and departmental grant demands across successive fiscal years.
Stalin highlighted the daily distress faced by citizens who were forced to stand in long queues for hours to secure drinking water. Ground reservoirs, municipal tanks, and rural borewells had dried up completely due to administrative neglect and failure to execute pre-monsoon desilting operations. Instead of addressing the emergency proactively, authorities remained indifferent, leaving residents at the mercy of private water tankers charging exorbitant rates. Stalin demanded that the government disclose detailed accounts showing how funds allocated for water resource preservation and drought mitigation were actually spent.
Stalin urged the state administration to recognize the gravity of public suffering without further delay. He called for mobilizing emergency water tankers, drilling community borewells, repairing water infrastructure, and implementing immediate relief measures to guarantee clean drinking water supplies to all affected families statewide.
