DMK president M.K. Stalin called upon the people of Tamil Nadu to vote decisively for the Rising Sun symbol in the assembly bye-elections, condemning the AIADMK administration for betraying farmers by forcibly erecting high-tension power transmission towers on fertile agricultural lands. Stalin asserted that the state government had ruthlessly ignored the persistent protests of cultivators across western districts, prioritizing corporate infrastructure projects over agrarian survival.
Stalin explained that the arbitrary installation of high-voltage transmission lines through agricultural plots severely degraded land values, disrupted cultivation, and endangered farming families. Farmers had staged peaceful agitations for months demanding that transmission cables be laid underground along national highways rather than cutting across fertile fields. Instead of engaging constructively, the state police subjected protesting farmers to intimidation, arrests, and harassment. He promised that a DMK government would protect agricultural properties, provide fair compensation, and advocate for sustainable underground power transmission networks.
Stalin urged the farming community to unite and defeat the anti-farmer AIADMK administration at the ballot box. He emphasized that the DMK remains an unyielding defender of agrarian rights, ensuring that farmers' lands, livelihood, and democratic dignity are safeguarded against state exploitation.
