DMK president M.K. Stalin warned that the DMK will bring a formal no-confidence motion against Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal if the presiding officer attempts partisan disqualification proceedings against three ruling party dissident legislators. Stalin noted that fearing imminent defeat in the twenty-two assembly bye-elections, the AIADMK administration initiated desperate maneuvers to disqualify lawmakers V.T. Kalaiselvan, E. Rathinasabapathy, and V.T.N. Prabhu to artificially sustain its precarious legislative majority.
Stalin asserted that the Speaker's high constitutional office must remain strictly neutral, objective, and above partisan machinations. Using constitutional authority to intimidate elected representatives ahead of crucial bye-election results undermines parliamentary conventions and democratic integrity. The ruling dispensation lost its moral authority long ago, surviving precariously through opportunistic backroom alliances and administrative coercion. Stalin emphasized that any attempt to abuse assembly procedures to suppress legislative opposition will face fierce legal resistance, public exposure, and institutional pushback across every constitutional forum.
Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK will utilize every constitutional remedy available, including moving an unyielding no-confidence motion against the Speaker inside the assembly. The party will not remain a silent spectator while constitutional norms are shredded to protect an unpopular cabinet.
