DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound anguish over the alarming rise in sexual violence against women in Tamil Nadu, citing fresh assaults in Perambalur while victims of the notorious Pollachi abuse racket still awaited justice. Stalin asserted that every passing day under the incumbent AIADMK dispensation deepens insecurity for women, reflecting total administrative breakdown, lack of political will, and severe police paralysis throughout the state.
Stalin criticized the state administration for shielding politically connected perpetrators in the Pollachi sexual extortion scandal rather than securing prompt convictions. The horrifying revelations in Pollachi shocked the conscience of the nation, exposing systemic vulnerability among college students and working women. Yet, instead of restoring safety through stringent preventive measures, subsequent incidents in Perambalur demonstrated that criminals continue to act with brazen impunity under an indifferent government. Stalin stressed that women across rural and urban centers live under constant dread due to ineffective surveillance and sluggish prosecution.
Stalin demanded that the Pollachi case be handed over entirely to the Central Bureau of Investigation without state interference. He called for swift, uncompromised judicial proceedings in the Perambalur incident to restore public trust in the state's justice system.
