DMK president M.K. Stalin launched a fierce condemnation against the Election Commission of India following its arbitrary decision to rescind the parliamentary election in Vellore constituency alongside targeted Income Tax raids at DMK candidate Kanimozhi's premises in Thoothukudi. Stalin demanded to know whose partisan interests the commission sought to satisfy through selective enforcement, questioning whether the regulatory body had openly aligned as a junior partner with the ruling AIADMK-BJP coalition.
Stalin highlighted that while massive cash distribution schemes by ruling alliance candidates across the state were completely ignored, central enforcement agencies were unleashed exclusively against opposition parties. In Vellore, an entire electorate was disenfranchised based on allegations without proving candidate culpability, whereas no similar punitive actions were taken against documented violations by the ruling party. This glaring double standard severely damaged the constitutional credibility of the electoral referee, demonstrating unprecedented institutional capitulation to central political masters.
Stalin cautioned that any deliberate attempt to subvert democratic processes and suppress the will of Tamil Nadu voters will trigger intense public resistance. He affirmed that the people will deliver a fitting democratic rebuff at the ballot box.
