DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed an immense election campaign rally in Tirunelveli, seeking an overwhelming mandate for DMK parliamentary candidate S. Gnanathiraviam. Stalin highlighted Tirunelveli's rich historical legacy in the freedom struggle and Dravidian politics, reminding the audience that southern Tamil Nadu's industrial and infrastructural modernization had made great strides under previous DMK governments through dedicated special economic zones and higher education institutions.
Stalin condemned the AIADMK administration for neglecting southern districts, noting that Gangaikondan IT Park and Nanguneri Special Economic Zone remained unutilized wastelands without new investments or job creation. Thousands of educated youth were forced to migrate to northern cities or abroad for basic employment. In addition, the perennial lifeline of the southern districts, the Tamirabarani river, was being degraded by uncontrolled industrial effluent discharges, illegal sand mining, and corporate water exploitation sanctioned by the state government, while agricultural irrigation canals faced acute desilting neglect.
Stalin pledged that a DMK administration will revitalize the Nanguneri and Gangaikondan economic zones, protect the Tamirabarani basin from exploitation, and ensure lasting agrarian prosperity across Nellai. He appealed for votes decisively under the Rising Sun.
