DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed a mammoth election campaign rally in Kanyakumari, rallying overwhelming public support for Secular Progressive Alliance candidate H. Vasanthakumar of the Indian National Congress. Stalin stated that Kanyakumari, a land known for communal harmony and secular traditions, had been subjected to poisonous communal polarization and neglect by Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan and the central BJP regime over the preceding five years.

Stalin underscored the deep anxieties of local coastal and agricultural communities regarding the contentious Enayam and Colachel commercial transshipment port projects. He pointed out that the central government had pushed forward these projects without consulting local fisherfolk, threatening to uproot thousands of traditional fishing families and destroy marine ecology. In addition, the central administration had failed to provide comprehensive relief or locate missing fishermen after the catastrophic Cyclone Ockhi, exposing the sheer indifference of the Modi government toward Tamil Nadu's coastal people. Rubber growers and spice farmers were also suffering from plunging prices and import dumping.

Stalin assured that the DMK-Congress alliance will protect fisherfolk rights, reject harmful port projects, and defend secular brotherhood across the district.
