DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the cowardly and heinous desecration of the statue of Dravidian icon and social reformer Thanthai Periyar by anti-social hooligans in Aranthangi, Pudukkottai district. Stalin asserted that vandalizing the likeness of the revolutionary thinker who liberated millions of oppressed people from the bondage of caste and ignorance was an unforgivable provocation aimed at inciting communal hatred and disrupting public peace during crucial general elections.

Stalin demanded that the state police department act without the slightest leniency, directing senior authorities to identify and crush these subversive conspirators with an iron hand. He pointed out that ever since the BJP and reactionary fringe groups expanded their political rhetoric in Tamil Nadu, systematic attacks on Dravidian icons, rationalist statues, and social reformers had been staged repeatedly. The weak-kneed AIADMK administration had failed to take stern preventive measures, tacitly emboldening communal fringe groups through administrative paralysis.

Stalin affirmed that the profound rationalist and egalitarian ideals propagated by Thanthai Periyar were permanently and indelibly etched into the consciousness of Tamil society and could never be dimmed by cowardly acts of nocturnal vandalism.
