Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed a massive election campaign rally in historic Vellore, campaigning with great determination for DMK candidate D.M. Kathir Anand. Stalin highlighted Vellore's rich heritage of communal harmony, revolutionary fortitude dating back to the 1806 Vellore Mutiny, and its status as a premier hub for healthcare, higher education, and export-oriented leather and footwear industries.

Stalin highlighted the crippling destruction inflicted upon Vellore's tanning, leather, and small-scale manufacturing sectors by the chaotic implementation of GST and demonetization under the Narendra Modi regime. Thousands of small tannery owners and footwear craftsmen faced acute working capital shortages, order cancellations, and regulatory harassment, forcing widespread closures and massive job losses. In addition, the district suffered from chronic drinking water scarcity due to the neglect of the Palar river basin and delays in completing the Cauvery joint drinking water supply expansion scheme. The minority communities of Vellore also lived under continuous anxiety due to the divisive, communal politics promoted by the BJP and condoned by the AIADMK.

Stalin pledged that a DMK government will support the leather export industry, resolve water shortages, and preserve minority rights.

This is an initiative of unofficial DMK and Dravidian Ideology supporter, a fan of Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar — not affiliated with any official DMK party or persons.
