DMK president M.K. Stalin launched a trenchant attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, holding both rulers squarely responsible for the acute distress engulfing India's agricultural community. Stalin pointed out that despite farmers constituting the vital backbone of the country's economy, the Narendra Modi administration had spent five years in total apathy, turning a blind eye to nationwide agrarian protests while substantially escalating the prices of diesel, chemical fertilizers, seeds, and agricultural machinery through arbitrary levies.
Stalin remarked that instead of standing up for Tamil Nadu's struggling agrarian community, Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami had acted as a willing accomplice to New Delhi's detrimental farm policies. When devastating cyclones and prolonged droughts crippled cultivators, the state leadership failed to secure adequate disaster relief funds from the Union government. In addition, the state administration denied timely crop insurance disbursements while acquiring agricultural lands for contentious projects without consent. Stalin stressed that the agrarian crisis was manufactured by political callousness.
Stalin declared that April 18 would serve as the day of reckoning when farmers and rural workers will unite to defeat both regimes. He urged voters to choose the Rising Sun.
