DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed an immense election campaign public meeting in Chennai North parliamentary constituency, campaigning for DMK candidate Dr. Kalanidhi Veerasamy and assembly bye-election candidate R.D. Sekar in Perambur. Stalin drew attention to the vibrant working-class legacy of North Chennai, emphasizing that its dock workers, factory laborers, artisanal fishermen, and trading communities represented the industrious heart of the state's capital city.
Stalin launched a fierce indictment against the AIADMK administration for systematically treating North Chennai as an urban dumping ground, neglecting severe environmental and health hazards. Toxic industrial emissions from petrochemical refineries and coal ash pollution from Ennore thermal stations continued to poison local air and water bodies, while the Buckingham Canal and Kosasthalaiyar river remained heavily polluted. In Perambur and Vyasarpadi, hundreds of families residing in dilapidated housing board tenements were denied in-situ redevelopment rights, secure land titles, and basic underground sewage amenities. Stalin noted that while state ministers favored wealthy infrastructure lobbies, North Chennai's working communities suffered from chronic municipal apathy.
Stalin promised that a DMK administration will rehabilitate drainage waterways, modernize working-class housing, and establish industrial pollution monitoring boards. He appealed for votes under the Rising Sun.
